GUEST BLOG
Kayelle McClive
I’m so very honored to be doing a guest blog here today.
First of all I guess I should tell you something about myself eh? I’m Kayelle McClive, author, photographer, mom, wife and gramma. I live in Southern Indiana and write contemporary and paranormal erotic romances. I started writing when I was around thirteen years old. It started with fan fiction, putting me and my friends in place of the heroines with our favorite band members. That evolved as I got older into my own characters and my own stories. I still love a great fan fic every now and again!
My first novel, Confederate Moon, was just released in February. It’s a paranormal romance but set in a world where the South wins the Civil War because vampires make themselves known to the world and help them.  I did a lot of research on the reasons the  South lost, what made the North better and then had to distort and change those facts. After my husband posed a question to me (What if the South won the Civil War because Vampires helped the South win?) I knew I had the beginning of a great new novel.
The characters of Bryne and Nolan came to me right away. Nolan’s story was my husband’s creation. He came up with who Nolan was, where he came from, his profession and his family. Bryne was a bit more difficult and her true story didn’t evolve for about a year.
I knew I wanted them to have more of a longer reaching story arc than just one book and as I got into writing the book, I realized that the other characters in the world had stories to tell as well.  As of right now I have at least four books planned for the series, with a possible fifth.

Excerpt:
“Bryne, that’s a pretty name. I’m your new boyfriend, nice to meet you.” He took the time to look around the bar, then back at me. “Nice little place you have here, tucked away all safe and sound from the big city.”
“It’s nice to meet you too. Do you have a name or do I just scream baby when I wanna talk to you?” I questioned him, enjoying our silly little banter. At least the time would pass faster this way.
Soft, warm waves of power rolled off him like ripples, reminding me of water lapping the shore of a lake. In those waves were life and power. It gave me the sensation of being out in the woods with wildlife all around me. I’d never felt anything like it before. It thrilled me a little bit and scared me too. This man, this wolf, wasn’t anyone to toy around with, but that was exactly what I wanted to do.
His eyes seemed old, wise, and yet I could see the devious little glint in them that reminded me of a younger man when our gazes met. His dark brown hair lay combed back away from his face. You could tell he didn’t take much time to mess with it and left it to do what it wanted. The more I looked at him I could feel the earthiness in him. It was real and I knew it had to be the wolf in him. He had a well-trimmed mustache and beard that drew my attention to his lips where I found myself staring. He didn’t look a day over thirty, but there was an aura about him that spoke of maturity that came from living far more than those young years. We gazed at each other and neither of us hid the fact that we were looking. Somehow it wasn’t awkward. He broke the silence first, as he sat his glass down.
“You know, you wouldn’t have to scream it all the time. You could whisper it sometimes too.”
I laughed out loud. He smiled before he gave me a little wink, “Nolan Shea.”
“Well, Nolan Shea, it’s nice to meet you. I’ll remember I can whisper it too. So since you’ve decided we’re dating now, what should I know about you?”
“I’m cute and adorable, but that’s obvious. I like long runs through the woods followed by hot sweaty sex. I have no problem beating the hell out of anyone that looks at you funny or says something that pisses me off, which doesn’t take all that much sometimes. Oh, and I’m awesome at torturing people. It’s a natural gift I was just born with.”
“Well you’re sounding more and more like a winner. How did I get so lucky?”
I finished off my own drink, placing the glass in the dirty tub.
He shifted his position, sitting up a bit straighter. His face grew more tense, his lips thinned and his eyes seemed to lose their glimmer. He wasn’t here to flirt. He was all business.
“It just so happens that I bought your debt here on the bar, so I thought I should come say hi, see what I spent my hard earned money on.”
“Closing time guys!” Michael called out quickly. I saw George look over at me, concern written on his face.
