BLURB:
We must overcome and prevail ...
King Raemon is slaughtering tattooed scribes and mages, forcing them into hiding. All marked and those associated with them are destroyed. The people are desperate. Months after challenging Raemon, the marked rebels of Medeisia must rise against their bloodthirsty king or chance being annihilated.
Sixteen year-old Drastona Consta-Mayria is the prophesied phoenix of peace, desperate to be a leader for her people despite her reservations. Following the lead of a scarred and forgotten prince, Drastona will embark on a journey with an unlikely band of rebels and a dragon across a cursed desert to bring down a king and save a kingdom.

 Excerpt:
One corner of Kye’s lips quirked upward, his hand taking mine. He turned it over, his fingers playing slowly across my palm. I should have pulled away, but I didn’t.
“You will never change, will you, Stone? You will never accept that some must be lost for much to be gained.”
I shook my head, my eyes on his fingers as they traced the lines of my hands. It was a curious sensation, and warmth unfurled in the pit of my stomach, lighting a fire that heated every corner of my body.
“Should I change?” I whispered hoarsely.
Kye’s smile grew. “No, you keep us balanced. I keep the rebels fighting for freedom, and you keep us all humble.”
I forced my eyes away from my palm. How was I supposed to think when he was drawing shapes like that on my skin? I tugged on my hand. Kye refused to let go.
“You’ve forgiven me,” he stated.
It wasn’t a question, and his boldness with my hand made me bold as well. I lifted my free hand, reaching tentatively for his face. He watched me, his eyes alert, his breathing stilled.
My finger touched the scar on his temple, and he exhaled, his eyes closing. The fingers he’d been drawing circles with on my palm froze.
“So many scars,” I breathed. “You had enough without my hatred.”

Fairy Thoughts

"Favorite Line(s) "And then I knew what he meant when he said every scar in his body tore open, and I was the only one who could heal them because suddenly my heart was a gaping hole, the scars in my emotions an open wound. His kiss healed them. His beating heart replaced awful memories with something hopeful and new.”

I had to put two favorite lines because this book deserved that and more!

“I opened my eyes, my gaze falling on the cot, on the lifeless face of the man I loved. His eyes were closed, his head turned to the side, his scar obvious. There was pain in his face, but there was a smile on his lips. A small one, but a smile nonetheless.”

I'm still in shock from this whole amazing story! The emotions I felt during this book were , well I could never put into words how truly beautiful this books was! How full of magic, heartache, love, and most of all hope! After reading Mark of the Mage I really honestly thought the author could do no more to well floor me and boy was I wrong!
Watching Stone grow right before me on the pages I read was a wonderful gift. She inspires all around her and with good reason. To watch her learn so many lessons and watch her heart harden broke my heart but, as a new amazing (OH SO SEXY) character Cadeyrn says, “Love and war. They don't go together, Aean Brirg” (you must read the book to find out what it means) Cadeyrn is a prince of Sadeemian, an amazing warrior and a mystery to me! I could go on and on about everything I loved in this book but, instead I will just say it was amazing. The writing style was perfect, description of everything was so clear I felt I was in the different lands when I closed my eyes. The series is inno way predictable as some series are. I am dying to know what happens next. Another amazing story for The Scribes of Medeisia series and I look forward to what's next. This is defiantly a book for anyone who loves magic, dragon, love, war, and of course the Phoenix who can talk to the forest! Its times like this when i wish i was better at expressing my self through words! I am recommending this is everyone I mean EVERYONE who loves books that touch your heart! YOU MUST READ THIS SERIES!!!

I was given book by author in exchange for honest review
