Book Description:

Rachel Gibson, New York Times bestselling author of Rescue Me, returns to Texas with a tale of what happens when a tough guy meets his match—and falls harder than a ton of red-hot bricks . . .

There's nothing like fleeing Miami to ruin a girl's day.

Stella Leon's bartending gig was going fine until gorgeous ex-Marine Beau Junger decked her mob-connected boss, spirited her out of the city, and claimed that Stella's half-sister—the one with the perfect life—sent him. Now Stella has no choice but to go along for the ride . . . and seduce Beau's military-issue socks off …

The Marine Corps was Beau's escape from his old man's legacy of naval heroism and serial philandering, but no amount of training could prepare him for the day he looked in the mirror and saw his father staring back. The answer: swear off meaningless sex. Oh, and find a way to make Stella Leon quit being so damn hot…

About the Author:

Rachel Gibson lives in Idaho with her husband, three kids, two cats, and a dog of mysterious origin. She began her fiction career at age 16, when she ran her car into the side of a hill, retrieved the bumper, and drove to a parking lot, where she strategically scattered the car’s broken glass all about. She told her parents she’d been the victim of a hit-and-run and they believed her. She’s been making up stories ever since, although she gets paid better for them nowadays

Favorite Quotes:
“Velma Patterson came into the store today and said you were seen running from my apartment building wearing nothing but army books and a camo bandana.”
“I was naked?”
Vince Shrugged. “I wouldn’t have mentioned it, but I thought you should know.”
“Next they’ss say you parachuted in with a knife between your teeth.”Sadie sighed. “The truth is never quite colorful enough.”
“Flashbang,” she whispered as he stopped just below and tilted his head back. He’s brought her a flashbang.
Another crackle like the Fourth of July sent her racing from the room. She flew out the exterior door and down the steps, toward Beau like she had that day she’d run from two mobsters. Only this time, there was only Beau, standing in front of the smoke like he was descending from a cloud. No Fancy hearts or flowers. Just flashbang and him.
She stopped ten feet away. Suddenly unsure. “Someone told me that I give excellent flashbang.” “I think I said wonderful.”

I was given this book for an honest review.
This book is the follow-up to Rescue Me.  Which I haven’t read yet but plan on doing.  In this story you have Stella who is the illegitimate child and sister of Sadie whose story is in the Rescue Me. Stella is a bartender and singer who lives in Florida.  She has known all along that she had a sister but what she didn't know was her father had died and Sadie her sister had just found out that she has a sister.  Sadie and Vince her husband enlisted Beau to find Stella and bring her back to Texas to meet her sister.

Stella is a strong, sassy women but is having a problem with her boss.  Her boss has decided that Stella should be with him and is not taking no for an answer.  That is where Beau comes in.  Beau is an ex-marine is a person that will not allow anyone to man handle a woman.  He immediately comes to her rescue outside the bar where she works and knocked out her boss. Which is now her ex-boss.  What they didn’t know at the time is that he is someone launders money for the Russian Mob.  What was supposed to be an easy job has turned out a lot tougher.

From the first time their eyes meet there is an undeniable attraction but they both fight it at first.  With having to spend several days on the road together the attraction becomes stronger.  She is a virgin who wants to give herself to the man she loves and he is a man who has decided that he is not into one night stands anymore. He will hold out for the right person.  Will they make it to Texas or will the mob reach them first?   Will they give into the attraction or will they keep denying it and lose what could be forever? Only time will tell.

I really enjoyed this story but my only problem with is it was that Stella has been on her own for so long and works in a bar and had to deal with men on a regular basis. But when Beau shows up it’s like she cannot do anything on her own and she puts up with his crap and that is not something I would have expected from her. All in all it was a fast passed, will written story.  The humor and banter that goes on in the story is great, it makes it all seem real and draws you in.  Beau is a hunk with an attitude and there were times if I was Stella I would have slapped him.  He did love his “flashbangs” and boy was he good at them, he also has a twin brother, Blake.  I cannot wait for his story…
