Celestial Beginnings Spotlight~Interview~Review

Being a descendant of a fallen angel, nephilim Malachi Starkman, is all about his duty in protecting mankind and preventing Satan’s army from growing any further. He leads a squad of talented warriors on this quest to preserve humanity, but as leader, he feels every aspect is his responsibility. After centuries of fighting, he is starting to feel burned out, and wondering if this is his sole purpose on Earth.

Local teacher, Trinity Bradshaw, has been trying to move on from her turbulent past but it doesn’t seem to want to let her go. Therefore, when a deliciously handsome man with alluring eyes says he wants to help her, she cannot say no. So many obstacles stand between the two, but neither of them seem to be able to walk away from the other. Will they find common ground or will she just be a liability in his quest to destroy the one that has plagued him for years?

Describe your books in 3 words? Wow, right off the bat, huh? lol  Okay…Exhilarating, Intriguing, & Sexy.

If you could be any character from one of your books who would it be? Victoria (aka.. Tori)  She has the sexy, rough and tough exterior where nothing fazes her, but a delicate vulnerability on the inside that only the closest people to her can see.

What is your greatest fear about being an author/publishing your book(s)?  That’s easy; that no one will like the writing that I choose to share.  With every piece of writing that an author puts out there for people to see, they give a piece of themselves with it.  It makes us very vulnerable.

Would the 10 year-old version of yourself kick your butt or praise you for what you've accomplished in life? When I was 10, I felt like the world was at my fingertips, and I knew that I could be anything I wanted to be.  I remember wanting desperately to be a waitress, thinking that it was amazing how they could balance the large trays of food on one hand.  Well, I was never a waitress, but my 10 year old self also knew she wanted a loving family, and I now have that in abundance.  Personally, I think she would praise me for my accomplishments and love the fact that I am finally writing down all the stories that are coming to life in our head.  They were there, even at 10, but only in my daydreams.

What is your favorite Genre and why? Romance… no question about it.  It doesn’t matter if it’s historical, paranormal, contemporary, etc… add some suspense, maybe some action or mystery, and those are my favorites.

What is one thing that would surprise us to know about you?  I’m pretty easy to read, and an open book if someone doesn’t know something, so this is hard.  Okay, here it goes… time to spill.  I am a horrible speller.  If it wasn’t for spell check and auto correct on my phone, everyone would know my little secret. J  I have had to delete and redo posts and tweets that I sent out from my computer that contained a spelling error. lol  If that’s not what you were looking for, I also dance around my house to hold music on the telephone. Was there an Author who inspired you to write? I don’t know that there was a specific author that inspired me to write, but I can say that it wasn’t until I read Lisa Kleypas that I started to make up stories about her sub characters.  She was the first author that I read and introduced other characters, who would later have stories of their own.  I found myself creating their stories.  After thinking up enough stories that didn’t come to fruition, I decided to make them happen on my own.

How did you come up with the characters in your books?  It might sound weird, but I get a lot of my book ideas from my daydreams or even dreams while I’m asleep.  At one time or another, I have dreamt up my characters, and if their personality was strong enough, they stuck.  I constantly joke about the voices in my head begging to be created inside a story.

Do you prefer to write alone or do you like to collaborate with other authors?  Usually, I prefer to write alone, but if I’m indecisive about an aspect in the story, I have a few different people to ask opinions from.

Everyone uses computers, tablets, phones and no one uses handwritten form or typewriters, what do you prefer to use?  My laptop is a dear old friend, and it is where I do all my typing.  However, I have notes everywhere, handwritten and electronic.  I carry around a small notepad wherever I go to write down random ideas whenever they pop in my head.  Plus, music always helps get ideas flowing, so if I think of something while driving, I talk into my phone so it types in my electronic notebook.  At the end of the day, I gather everything together and type it up in the story.

Is there a ritual you do before you begin your book? Not really.  I write out a rough outline, and do the necessary research, but nothing out of the ordinary.  In fact, if a beginning of a book is stuck in my head, but I am still working on a different book, I will go ahead and start the one I can’t stop thinking about, so I can move on with the other one.

What do you do when you finish your book and turn it in to the editor?  Breath, lol.

Favorite Lines “Most can’t fight the urge, and it is forever a balancing act for the ones that chose the path of light. This was God’s gift to all, no matter who you were, free will. Therefore, even though it is told that all nephilims are evil, in reality, some chose to fight the good fight on the side of the Lord. It gets easier for nephilims the more generations that pass because of the increase in humanity to the bloodlines.”

“He would never understand women. One moment they were about to make each other cry, but before they separated they… professed their love”

“I was twenty and thought the sun rose and set around her. Now I know that I was being young and stupid, because I can never remember feeling this out of control with her. It feels like I’m spinning at warp speed with nothing to hold onto. All it takes is one look from you to make my heart speed up. That’s how you make me feel.”

“When he pulled back, the feeling of completeness never left, and he wondered if it ever would. At that moment, he prayed that it never did. He felt that after so many years, he finally had something to lose. The feeling was utterly terrifying, but at the same time, very comforting.”

I'm so upset I waited so long to read this! It was yummy, action packed, and full of forgiveness!
Malachi is a Nephilim, his great great grandfather was a fallen angel.
He wants to be nothing like his "family" so he and other nephilims fight for goodness!
Trinty is a teacher with a past, she ended an abusive relationship and her only time of feeling safe is when she dreams. She has the most amazing dreams with the yumminess man!
Malachi has been having the same dreams. So when they meet the real world literally meshes with fantasy!
This was a great story. I loved so much about it. The pride and determination Malachi has regarding not becoming like his ancestors was admirable. When he met Trinty it was so heartwarming and scary at the same time. I won't give away more but this is a great book for all lovers of paranormal romance!

I was given this book by author in exchange for honest review

  1. I normally don't read romance novels, but the storyline intrigued me. I loved this book! I always enjoy a battle of good versus evil, and the conflict between descendants of fallen angels was something new and fresh. The characters were so well-developed that I feel like I know them. I want more!
