DESCRIPTION
Book 2 of the Inevitable series.
Her heat brings them together. His fear forces them apart.
Shea’s heat might be ten years too late, but her feline side knows exactly what she wants. And her panther wants her best friend Darian as her mate. The “holiday romance” proves their sexual compatibility is explosive. But will she be able to convince him they belong together?
Darian is battling his own demons. When Shea asks him to teach her to handle her heat, he is unable to say no. He wants to touch her, taste her and mark her as his own. But when she asks for more, he cannot say yes. He’d rather stay away to keep her safe. From him.
A Romantica® paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave
Publisher’s Note: For maximum enjoyment we recommend reading Jaguar, Be Mine first.

Ju Dimello has two vices. First: Tall, dark, and brooding heroes. Second? Torturing them until they agree to a happily ever after.

To compensate for having been a proverbial geek—complete with thick glasses(she now wears contacts), Ju does the dutiful wife job by day and vents her emotions during the night by writing. Why night, one might ask? That's when her rugged heroes are tamed by strong, sensuous heroines... one spicy adventure at a time. Better than devouring chunks of decadent chocolate or indulging in extra-cheese pizza to tempt the taste buds? Well, almost...

She doesn't drink, not even coffee(Oh so boring, right?). Instead, she finds her passion for writing sizzling hot romances better than any stimulating beverages to fortify her through the cold, Canadian winters.

Favorite Quotes:
She stared at the rows of chairs with doors breaking their continuity with mounting tension. “Waiting is a bitch and I don’t think I like it much.”
Her declaration made Karintha narrow her eyes.
“You could consider this a payback for all the times you’d used it as a tool to make people spill their secrets.”
“Ouch.” Shea attempt at a dutiful laugh came out a grimace. “And here I thought you were my friend.”
“I am. And that’s why I’m here for you. No matter what.”

Shea stood still for a few moments watching her best friend carted off before the enormity of the news she’d uncovered hit her. She must’ve appeared a lunatic as she grinned and ran out the door, smack into a muscled wall whose hands wrapped around her hips.
“Darian!” She glanced up into his chiseled face, her heart skipping a beat as always.
How she wished she were complete—not fractured—so she could take their friendship to the next level.

Her heart lurched. His sudden declaration of love and the way he’d asked her to take care. A sick feeling spread from her stomach to her throat until she felt nausea well up, while her legs trembled.
She wanted to get home. Now.Panther, Be Mine 75
“Are you okay?” Her brother’s concerned voice broke through the panicked urgency.
“I’m fine. I just have to check on something.” She hastily bade him goodbye, exchanged phone numbers with him and took a cab home.
Her heart thundered with each step she took inside and ventured straight to his apartment. Locked, as she’d suspected.
She let herself into her place, looking for the little things that he always seemed to leave around. Nothing to indicate he’d ever been there.
The significance of his look dawned on her.
“How could you, Darian?”
She crumpled to the floor and a low cry of anguish ripped out of her throat while her brain and heart turned blessedly numb.

This book was given to me in exchange for a honest review.

This is a novella but it is a great story, even though it is not a novel the way it is written keeps you wanting to read on and know what is going to happen next and why things are happening.  Darian is a panther who feels he cannot get involved with anyone because of something deep inside him.  He keeps trying to put a distance between him and his best friend Shea.  He realizes that he has fallen in love with her but refuses to be with her because of the past and what is inside him.  When Shea finally convinces him they should be more, he figures he can keep it casual but it became more to Shea and him then he thought it would.  Will he let the past go and keep Shea as his mate? Or will he destroy what is between them?  Will the enemy take her from him?
Like I said I really like the story and it keep me reading and wanting more.  What Darian needed was a good slap in the face.  Even though he was a hot, sexy shape shifter he needs to learn to not treat Shea the way he did.  Granted he had demons but he should allow her to help him and know what was going on.  Instead he decided to leave and destroy Shea.  I cannot wait for the next in the series.
