N.J. Walters Guest Post~Review~Giveaway

N.J. Walters
It All Started With a Carousel
By
N. J. Walters

“Where do you get your ideas?” This is one of the most frequently asked questions I get from readers. My answer is always the same—ideas come from everywhere. From magazine articles, newspapers, television, nonfiction books, snippets of conversation and song lyrics. In other words, my ideas come from life.

It’s hard to believe that a dark fantasy romance series has its roots in one of the most beloved and relatively tame carnival rides—the carousel. It all started when I did an online blog quiz that asked the question, “What carnival ride are you?” No surprise to me, I was the carousel. But it got me to thinking about the animals on the ride, which are traditionally horses. I wondered what a carousel would look like if the animals were more ferocious, maybe a lion, tiger, bear, jaguar, serpent, wolf and the mythical phoenix.

Then my imagination took it a step further.  What if the animals weren’t really inanimate objects at all but shapeshifting immortal warriors who’d been cursed to remain in their animal forms. I was off and running. About the same time, I came across a reference to a little known goddess called the Lady of the Beasts. I put the two ideas together and Hades’ Carnival was born.

For five thousand years, the seven warriors of the Lady of the Beasts have been imprisoned in their animal forms. Cursed by the very goddess they serve in order to keep them out of Hell they wait for a chance at freedom. But Hades keeps a close watch on them, placing them on a very special carousel in the middle of a macabre carnival run by his demons. He has plans for the warriors. Now the warriors are being offered a chance at freedom and redemption. It will take a very special woman to free each one and not all of them will make it.

This premise is where the series began. I loved writing each book and getting to know each shapeshifting warrior and his chosen woman. I’d planned on four books for this series and thought I was done when I finished the quartet. But readers keep asking for more so I’m currently working on three new Hades’ Carnival novellas.

N.J. has always been a voracious reader, and now she spends her days writing novels of her own. Vampires, werewolves, dragons, time-travelers, seductive handymen, and next-door neighbors with smoldering good looks—all vie for her attention. It’s a tough life, but someone’s got to live it.

Favorite Lines “Where there was hope there was life. A”

“So he was hot. So what? So he made her body sit up and take notice. So what? He was just a man like any other.”

“He had to believe in her honesty, in her passion. If it wasn't genuine, he was lost, because there was no way he could ever harm her.”

“My soul isn't up for grabs. You might kill me but, as we both know, I’m a survivor. I won’t make it easy for you.”

“She moved against him in a slow mating dance that sealed their love once and for all. When they came it was together. There was no huge explosion this time, but a flooding of rightness, a sense of belonging, of love that brought tears to her eyes.”

“Thank you,” he whispered in her ear. “Thank you for giving him his life.”

Man, this author continues to surprise me! Her writing reaches something I side of me that very few authors can!
These warriors are proud, amazing, strong, and freaking yummy! They have a loyalty that very few can have!
I will admit when I first found it the main heroine was a "scream queen" I had my doubts but, they were easily put to rest. She's an amazing Character who is strong and loyal. Strong in her beliefs and convictions! Watching her stand up to Hades was such a treat.
I'm dying to know what happens to the rest of the warriors and their lady! I devoured this book like every one of N.J. Walters. She's an amazingly talented author! If you love paranormal romance then this series is for you!

Praise of the Lion
Favorite Lines “But I have no horses. We drove in your car. Are you sure you are okay? Did you hit your head?”

“Why does the sun rise in the east? Why do the birds sing?” He placed his hand over his heart. “These things just are.” He took another step toward her. “You are in my heart, Araminta Davidson, and there is no removing you from it.”

“Love her and do not let her go. The woman in your arms is a miracle. She gave her life for you.”

“An immortal booty call.”

“These are happy tears.” She sniffed and tried to stop, but another tear rolled down her face.
“I do not fully understand you, but I will.” It was a vow and a promise and she took it as such.
“I don’t know where this is going or what will happen, but I’m in this with you.”
“Forever,” he told her.
“Forever,” she agreed.”

Whew! Yep I want Leander to "My Immortal Booty Call"
N.J. Walters is such an amazing writer! She gives everything needed for a book! This series does that and more. I love who these mates aren't "perfect", how strong they are, and how much these warriors love them! Leander is such a fierce warrior! He's just yummy!
Hades is a pig! He think these women are weak well HA they sure showed him! Mordeci is breaking my heart too! I'm hoping he has some plan, I refuse to believe he has gone dark!
This one had some extra stuff in it that I loved! I wanted to know more about the Lady and got that wish granted in this book. It's just an amazing series! Araminta is fabulous, she welcomes the fierceness of the Lion with open arms!
