A K Michaels was born in Scotland quite a number of years ago! She was married at a young age and is a mother to three much loved children. After the birth of her last child she went back to higher education and studied for a year before gaining employment in the banking industry. She worked in that role for a number of years before leaving, both the job and the country.
She lived abroad for a few years before returning to Scotland and finally taking up her dream - writing.
She is the author of the Defender's Blood series of books and two other series, The Witch, The Wolf and the Vampire and also Sabrina's Vampire, together with a Wolf Erotica Novella, Lori's Wolf. Her books fall into the Paranormal/Urban Fantasy genre and she loves writing those particular kinds of stories where she can let her imagination run wild!
She now spends her time reading - everything from Sci Fi to Crime, Erotica to Fantasy, Thrillers to Paranormal Romance. She loves spending time with her family and, of course, writing!
She has Twitter, Facebook Page and a Website.

Alex picked up on something he had just said “This time? You said you’ve only been here a few days this time? So you’ve visited Scotland before?”
Zach confirmed that he had. “Yes I was here before but a very, very long time ago.”
She was looking at his profile and questioned him. “When?”
Zach’s face looked thoughtful as he answered. “Well, let me think, it was during the late 1800s I think, 1898 or thereabouts. It was a very different place then.”
Alex could only stare at him. 1898 oh my God, that can’t be right, she thought. “Sorry but did you mean 1998?” she whispered and Zach’s head shook as he answered.
“No, 1898 give or take a year – yes Alexina, I am very, very old.”

Describe your books in 3 words?
Exciting, Romantic, Super(natural)!

If you could be any character from one of your books who would it be?
Until recently I would have said Alexina from Defender's Blood - everyone needs an ancient Vampire in their life! However, I'm writing another series - The Witch, The Wolf and The Vampire and the Witch, Peri, WELL what can I say - she has TWO Supernaturals not one! So at this exact moment in time it would be Peri!

What is your greatest fear about being an author/publishing your book(s)?
I didn't press 'publish' for a while as I was terrified! Mostly that folks wouldn't like what my very weird brain had put together but after pushing and prodding from my sister and one of my daughters' I finally took the plunge. Boy am I glad I did - it is such a rush to write something and see it progress to finally being on sale and out there for others to read and when I got my first contact on FB from lovely Colette in the USA I was a little shocked. I thought she had made a mistake and thought I was someone else lol! She hadn't and she has given me loads of lovely reviews and feedback. So although I still worry that folks won't like my work I'm not so worked up about it - I've learned not everyone will like my stories but there are others who do and that's what counts.

Would the 10 year-old version of yourself kick your butt or praise you for what you've accomplished in life?
Probably kick my butt for not doing it sooner!

What do you do when you finish your book and turn it in to the editor?
Worry!

What is your favorite Genre and why?
Paranormal/Urban Fantasy - my books cross over between these and I love that and love reading books about Angels, Vamps, Wolves, love - I'm a romantic at heart with a vivid imagination!

What is one thing that would surprise us to know about you?
I suffer pretty bad with OCD and have done for a LONG time. I don't go out much because of it.

Was there an Author who inspired you to write?
Not one specifically - I love lots of different authors and genres - all of my books have been inside my head for a long, long time!

How did you come up with the characters in your books?
Saw them in my head and they flowed from there, my head is always full of words, images, and I can sit and think about nearly a whole book before I start typing.

Do you prefer to write alone or do you like to collaborate with other authors?
Alone - OCD!

Everyone uses computers, tablets, phones and no one uses handwritten form or typewriters, what do you prefer to use?
Laptop, got joint problems so writing with a pen is a no no for me.

Is there a ritual you do before you begin your book?
Not really, apart from going over and over things in my head and then I go 'into the zone' and start typing.

Favorite Lines “He was always so in control and he had never experienced this lack of restraint before. He was extremely attracted to this tiny human.
It made him more convinced than ever that he would do anything, anything at all, to make sure she was safe.”

“I am so glad fate crossed our paths.”

“You need to be sure Alexina? If I drink from you there’s no going back. You will be mine and only mine, you need to understand that.” He was trying desperately to hold back but he didn’t know if he could for much longer.
“I love you Zach, I am already yours.”

“That’s only the beginning, lesson one, there are many, many more to come”

“I don’t know about you but I would go crazy if I couldn’t do something worthwhile.”

Defender of Mankind? That's what Alexina's name means LITERALLY!
After a scary night of almost being attacked by black smoke she meets Zach the yummy warrior who takes her breath away. He swoops in and saves her.
Zack tells her things that make her head spin. She finds out her aunt is really a fairy and that there has been a vision about her in danger! While this whirlwind of crazy goes on around her she finds Zach is the constant steady he's there for him protecting her. It's a whirlwind romance that knocks both of them off balance. While Alex prepares to fulfill her namesake!
Great story, strong Charchters, and I can't wait to have more of this series!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (RBTL)
