A mermaid out of her element . . .

Marcela’s world has been turned upside-down--literally. Once a proud member of her father King Triton’s royal guard, she’s now the victim of an angel’s curse. Enchanted into false adoration bordering on obsession, she traded her tail--and her voice--to the sea witch for the legs she needed to pursue the object of her desire. In a cruel twist of fate, the very magic that gave her the means to pursue her passion also broke the spell that caused it. Now she’s in the angel’s arms, but how can either of them trust the desire churning inside them when so much magic has muddied the waters?

Trust isn’t easy when nothing is as it seems . . .

A mermaid with legs and no singing voice. An angel with a curse. A witch with a chip on her shoulder. The world is full of magic and mayhem, and for an angel and a mermaid, it will take more than a kiss to balance…the Divine Scales

Character Interview
What is your character’s name? Does the character have a nickname?
The hero of Divine Scales is Patricio. He doesn’t have a nickname, but there are those who refer to him as the Avenging Angel.

What is your characters hair color? Eye color?
Patricio is blond with blue eyes.

What kind of distinguishing facial features does your character have?
Patricio doesn’t have what I’d call distinguishing facial features, but his eyes change. Patricio’s eyes glow a bright blue when he’s really emotional or when he’s using his power.

What is one strong memory that has stuck with your character from childhood? Why is it so powerful and lasting?
Patricio was taken from his parents when he was a child by the god Zeus and given to the temple of Ares to be trained as a divine harbinger of justice. He grew up watching Zeus’ exploits and it left him with a violent dislike for philanderers. It’s a big part of the reason that he has such an intense dislike for the incubus prince, Adonis.

What is your character's least favorite season?
Winter is difficult for Patricio mostly because the cold makes it more difficult to use his wings. It’s also more challenging for him to find warm clothes that fit around his wings.

(Answered from Patricio’s pov)

What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Unfortunately the most important event in my life was also the most unpleasant. One of the mortals I brought justice on happened to be the brother of a witch. She took offense to her brother’s death sentence, even though it was well-deserved and laid a curse on me.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I consider every time I mete out justice to be my greatest achievement. Every time my sword tastes blood, the world is less one evil man.

What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
I don’t do evil things. The work I do is for justice, and the sinners deserve what they get.

If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
Next question.

Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
Zeus. People in power should set a better example for their people than that.

Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
I’m not in a lot of social situations, but I find it serves my purpose more to listen and only step forward if moral guidance is needed.

Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
No. In my line of work, a large group of people either mean a crowd fawning over me or a group of sinners trying to outnumber me. If I have to make a choice, I’d take the latter.

Do you care what others think of you?
No.

If you could change one thing, what would it be, and why?

I’d like to be left alone to do my job. I don’t need appreciation, but it would be nice if people would withhold the drama after I’ve done my job.
