Book Excerpt

Leviah leaned against the door frame, his arms crossed over his chest. Walter had told him that he was bringing in a new family member to train, he just never mentioned that it was a female. Leviah tilted his head to one side as he tried to remember if there had ever been a woman to take over the translation business in the three hundred years he had been with the family.
“You are who Walter chose?”
“My Great Uncle Walter told me that only he and his partner lived here, he never mentioned a young man.”
Leviah chuckled, “Walter also never told me that he hired a beautiful, young woman to be our assistant.”
Summer shook her head, “No, he said he had been partners with a man named Leviah for many years. You aren’t old enough to have been with him for many years.”
Leviah laughed; he pushed off of the doorframe and sauntered toward Summer. “Believe me when I say I’m older than I look. You never did answer my question.”
“What question,” She asked her mouth suddenly going dry, her palms becoming sweaty. Now that the man was no longer hidden in the shadows she could see just how handsome he was.
“What your name was,” Leviah stated pushing a strand of his sandy blond hair behind his ear.
“Summer,” She croaked, her throat suddenly dry as sand. She watched those long fingers push the few golden blond strands behind his ear, not that the hair stayed. Her eyes drifted to his full, very kissable lips.
“Summer, what a beautiful and unusual name.” Leviah stated. “I can assure you that I do belong here. Walter’s partner isn’t a wrinkled, ancient skeleton, but a thirty something, sexy Fallen Angel. You hadn’t seen me yet because I tend to stay in the attic translating those dusty, old books with the languages long since dead.”
“Fallen Angel,” She chuckled. “Is that your way of telling me that you’re going to be bad for me?”

He gave her a lopsided grin, “I may lead you into temptation.”
