DESCRIPTION/Blurb

Grief changes people.
Brittany used to be a normal teen. She ate like one, slept like one, and had typical teenage mood swings. But after she found her best friend dead, everything changed.
Grief might explain her loss of appetite and her lack of sleep. It might even explain why she sees her dead friend everywhere she goes. But it certainly won't explain why everyone she touches develops bruises or why she's attracted to the smell of blood.
And, she's pretty sure grief dosen't make you want to rip apart your boyfriend just to get closer to his beating heart.
But what happens when it's the choices we make, not the creature inside, that proves the monster is in us all?

Describe your books in 3 words?
            >Love wins out.
            >That’s the heart of the theme. However, if you are looking for description: I’d say “Parasitic vampire exist.”

If you could be any character from one of your books who would it be?
            >I would want to be EV from Blood Matters because she gets the ability to be so many different people. Just once I’d like to see what it was like not being me (just for a few hours or so)

What is your greatest fear about being an author/publishing your book(s)?
            >That I won’t be ale to write all the books I want and equally as frightening is— that no one will want to read them.

Would the 10 year-old version of yourself kick your butt or praise you for what you've accomplished in life?
            >I think she’d be impressed though she may wonder why it took so long for me to actually start writing my books.

What do you do when you finish your book and turn it in to the editor?
            >I dance in my kitchen! And once the dancing is done I wonder what the hell I’m going to do until the editor gets back to me with the things I need to fix.

What is your favorite Genre and why?
            >Youth fiction, supernatural/sci-fi. I LOVE being in the head of someone who is young and has a life filled with possibilities. Then add in supernatural/sci-fi and the possibilities are so much more limitless!

What is one thing that would surprise us to know about you?
            >I always think I’m kinda an open book with no surprises. But I’ll say this: when I was a teen I was far too serious about life. It’s only as I’ve gotten older that I’ve learnt to relax and have a little fun.
            >Something else that I always think people know but not many do — I am dyslexic.

Was there an Author who inspired you to write?
            >Stephenie Meyers. I figured if she could do it (without any training or real involvement in the writing world before getting her book published) then so could I.

How did you come up with the characters in your books?
            >It all started with the idea of what kind of vampires I could believe in. Most don’t seem feasible to me. So when I thought of the parasite things just clicked into place.
            >As for characters they are the easiest part of writing for me. I am an extroverted socialite: I love meeting new people and hearing about things I’ve never thought of before. So when the rest of the world goes to bed and I’m left alone I can’t help but create new friends to get to know.

Do you prefer to write alone or do you like to collaborate with other authors?
            >I think I like writing in a groups, but the truth is I don’t actually get a lot of writing done. Alone, in my sauna, is the best writing time for me.

Everyone uses computers, tablets, phones and no one uses handwritten form or typewriters, what do you prefer to use?
            >My first draft is ALWAYS hand written. Then I input it to the computer and print it off to edit it by hand. If its not hand and pen the words (the story) doesn’t feel right for me.

Is there a ritual you do everything before you begin your book?
            >No, I hate routines. I don’t want to have to do X, Y or Z before I can write…however, that means there’s days when I don’t get a lot written.

What do you do when you finish your book and turn it in to the editor?
            >I like to jump up and down and dance in my kitchen. Then I tell a few friends so they can celebrate (dance and jump about) with me. For the first few books my hubby would buy me a new laptop after each novel I completed… But that started getting expensive.

  1. Aviva you are an amazing author!!! Through this book you have helped people who have fallen and are finding it hard to get back up. Through this book, I have come to realize that my choices (either the positive or negative side), have consequences to them. You have taught me that even though I may struggle through something, there is always something that comes from it.
I love this book (and your others, Safe and CHiP) and hope that you continue to keep writing and inspire others through your work.
