“Let me in.”
Dante
It’s not easy being a male dancer in a world where women
dominate. Ballet. Yeah, I’m a ballet dancer, but I prefer male professional
dancer. Still, I am at the top of my profession. Choreographers clamor to
create dance pieces for me, and women just clamor for me period. See, being
straight in a female dominated profession has its perks. But even though I
don’t hurt for companionship, I still get up in the middle of the night
reaching for something, someone, who is not the person lying next to me.
Because I always wake up feeling empty inside…until. She played for me.
Kali
It’s not easy being a female in a male dominated profession.
Most people can’t name five female guitarist, bass or lead, but I bet they can
name five male guitar players. Still, I am at the top of my profession. I’ve
proven to the world that music ability isn’t driven by gender. It hadn’t always
been that way, but now I am in constant demand. My time is no longer my own. As
for a relationship with a significant other? I stay away from other musicians I
perform with or might perform with, like the plague. Not good to mix business
with pleasure. Still, I’m only human and I wake up in the middle of the night
reaching for something that’s just not there. Then one day he danced for me,
and suddenly, I was no longer empty inside.
Violence. Due to the
content of this work recommended for 18+ only.
This is the third
book in The Ballerina Series but can be read as a standalone.

Excerpt
Dante
My fingers curled into the twisted sheets. I’d been
suffocating from sheer terror. I took deep breaths before opening my eyes. It
had been a long time since I’d had that vivid a dream. Years in fact, usually
my dreams were about feelings of abandonment, loneliness, not quite so dark. So
real. These weren’t dreams, but memories. Real nightmares from my past. Now
I’ve had them two nights in a row. What the fuck!
Thank God, I didn’t let Christy come home with me tonight. I
shouldn’t have let her stay with me last night, but I’d been so damn lonely
lately. I tried to make it clear to her there was nothing more between us,
other than two people scratching an itch. I didn’t give a shit that she
sometimes screwed other cast members, we weren’t dating. Still, I scared the
shit out of her when I woke her up in the middle of the night screaming. When
she asked what was wrong, I lied of course, and told her just a nightmare, and
I couldn’t even remember what it was about. Not hardly. She and I shared the
physical, not the emotional.
These nightmares came from a place deep inside of me.
Something I shared with no one.
I thought I conquered this fear a long time ago. That and
the psychiatrist bills said I had. In truth, I’d conquered it on my own, this
memory of the haunted woods and a lost little boy. Well, partially on my own, I
had a little help from my dad and a friend who gave me the tools to deal with
it. I am a man now, and I had overcome this. I’d done it by learning all about
the outdoors. So, I thought I had put this particular terror behind me. Fuck!

Ursula Sinclair
-Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to
grasp?
That gender should not drive what we are capable of doing.
Talent, dedication and drive do.
-Was there an Author who inspired you to write?
No. I’ve always enjoyed writing. But I was inspired over the
years by all the ballerinas and male dancers I’ve met to write this story. My
daughter was a classically trained ballerina so it’s a world I know.
-How did you come up with the characters in your books?
The main character
was the best friend and roommate of the heroine in the first 2 books in the
series, hence, The Ballerina Series. That’s all there was supposed to be, but I
got so many fan letters asking me for Dante’s story so before I finished the
second book in the series I began to really think about who Dante was. I
realized he needed a heroine that would understand and match him. Since he was
in a female dominated profession I thought what if I created his polar opposite
if you will. A female who was also in the arts but a male dominated profession.
Thus my guitar player Kali was born. Throughout the entire series I wanted to
keep things current dealing with things that young adults deal with today.
-What are your current projects?
Lol I have several. I’m usually actively working on 3
projects at a time in different phases. I just finished a new adult rock star
romance for an anthology, The Prison Guard’s Son, I’m working on book 2 for a
fantasy Dragon’s Blood and book 3 for another paranormal, Dark Soul. I’ll
finish book 4 Vin’s story in the Ballerina Sseries, Choose Me next year.
-Do you see writing as a career?
Most definitely. I write full time.
-Do you ever picture yourself and one of your heroines? If so, which one?
Not exactly. There’s a piece of me in each of my heroines,
my heroes too.
-Do you have a favorite heroine/hero from one of your books?
If so, who?
That’s really a tough one. I like them all for different
reasons, but three of my favorites are Draakar from Dragon’s Heart, who doesn’t
love a dragon shifter that sacrifices himself and his love for the good of his
people who are depending on him; Maze from The Ballerina & The Fighter for
doing whatever is necessary to keep Ivy safe; Thalya from Angel Rising
Redemption for making the toughest choice of all, giving up eternity for love.
-What kind of research do you do for your books?
Depends on the book the level of research but Google is my
special friend. lol
-What is the hardest part of writing your book?
Finding the time to finish it.
-If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?
Be patient I will finish my series. And if you read any book
by any author and enjoyed it please please leave a review. Otherwise our
stories are just words on a page. And thank you in advanced they are all
appreciated.
-What is your favorite Genre and why?
Fantasy. I can free my mind.
-Do you prefer to write alone or do you like to collaborate
with other authors?
I’m good with either, but I have to collaborate with authors
who I’m familiar with and be able to mesh styles.
-Do you ever get writer’s block? If so, how do you get
through it?
I’ve been very very lucky *knock on wood* no. The reason I
think is because I write in multiple genres and work on 3 or 4 things at a time
so never get bored or really stuck. My problem is too many ideas too little
time. lol
-When you are reading a book, who is your favorite author?
Depends on the genre but I have several. Julie Garwood for
historicals, Lucian Bane for erotica really an entire list for fantasy and
paranormal that would take up an entire page.
-Do you come up with the cover or does someone else do it?
Oh I do. I’m very particular about my covers. I’ve
collaborated on the cover design and had a lot of input even going so far as to
use photoshop for a touch up or two. I find my own models. I search for models
who match my characters. But I’ve been known to actually change the
characteristics of a character or two after seeing a model that just screamed
he was my character. lol
-If you could change anything in your writing what would
that be?
I think with each work I’ve grown as a writer and I just
hope to keep getting better and better. And more time to write.
-What book if any would you want to be made into a movie?
Shadow Wars Homebound. It reads like a movie.
-Who would you want to play the hero/heroine?
Hmmm tough one. I think I’d want new fresh faces.
-Everyone uses computers, tablets, phones and no one uses
handwritten form or typewriters, what do you prefer to use?
I’m a Apple girl. Mac, iPad and iPhone. I use all three even
for notes.
-Is there a ritual you do everything before you begin your
book?
Nope. I just open up a new doc and away I go.
-What do you do when you finish your book and turn it in to
the editor?
Play on Facebook a bit, watch TV, read for the rest of the
day. Drink a glass of wine that night with dinenr.
