Fun Facts:
1. I was once cursed by a real gypsy.
2. I’m a cat lover and cat whisperer. I can’t imagine life without a cat, or two.

3. I’m a self-proclaimed TV junkie. The beginning of every fall TV season is one of my favorite times of year. Don’t judge.

4. As an eighteen-year-old, I had to dress up like a great big Easter bunny, complete with feet, and walk around Sears where I worked and give out candy. Most humiliating experience of my life.

5. I exercise an hour a day. (Boring, right?)

6. I attended a multi-national family reunion in Australia in 2002 and now I’m in touch with relatives all over the world. These relatives are from my father’s family, and as far as we know, we’re the only family in the world with our surname (my maiden name).

7. I’m a former corporate drone and cubicle dweller.

8. Growing up, I wanted to be an anthropologist and am still very interested in anthropology. I get excited every time an anthropologist thinks he may have found the “missing link.”

9. I love to cook, and now that I no longer work a fulltime job outside the home, I can indulge my love of cooking. I collect recipes and have three binders of recipes and counting.

10. Several of my stories involve characters who are chefs, bakers, or caterers.

11. I’ve had a dozen short romance stories published in the confession magazines. I no longer write for them, preferring to publish my short stories myself.

12. My writing has been influenced by the romantic comedies from the Thirties and Forties I watched on late-night TV growing up.

13. My favorite movie is one I’m sure most people haven’t heard of: “The More the Merrier,” 1943, with Jean Arthur and Joel McCrea. McCrea was so yummy. I love the plot.

14. I’ve always loved reading (no surprise there). Reading opened a whole new world to me. When I first learned to read, I’d devour anything I could find to read, even cereal boxes.

15. My comfort food of choice is red wine and potato chips.

16. My favorite song is “Light My Fire” by the Doers.

17. I can’t dance. When I’ve had a little too much to drink, I will dance. My dancing isn’t any better, but I don’t care.

18. I saw George Harrison at the Concert for Bangladesh at Madison Square Garden in 1971.

19. I’ve wanted to be a writer almost my entire life, in addition to being an anthropologist. Life got in the way, and I didn’t seriously pursue writing until rather late. It took me ten long, hard years before I sold my first book, A Catered Affair, to Avalon Books.

Regarding the Isle of Capri, where Capri Nights is set:

20. On my first visit to Capri when I was twenty, I had two dates in one day with two different guys who worked at my hotel. One of the guys is the inspiration for Alessandro in Capri Nights. Guy number one, a cute dark-haired Italian, took me to the top of a small mountain where he proceeded to get fresh with me. I whacked him with my purse.

21. I was supposed to meet Guy Number One later that evening for another date, but I didn’t want to. I decided I didn’t like him. Trying to avoid him, I cautiously exited the elevator that evening into the hotel lobby. I peeked out from the elevator and saw a tall, dark-blond Italian guy watching me from behind the desk. That was Joseph, my inspiration for Alessandro. Joseph asked me what I was doing and I explained I was hiding from the other guy. Joseph assured me the guy wasn’t around, then he asked me to meet him, Joseph, later that night on the roof of the hotel. I agreed because I liked him and I liked how protective he seemed when he assured me he’d let me know if the other guy came around. I didn’t whack Joseph when he got fresh with me.

22. I was very sad to leave Capri and Joseph the next day. He and I wrote to each other for a few months. Then, I had a new boyfriend so I quit writing to Joseph. I found him recently on Facebook and was shocked to see he’s an actor and lives in New York City. No, I did not friend him. I’m happily married so it didn’t seem right to friend an old flame. Plus, I want to keep the fantasy from that magical time on Capri in my head.

23. My heroine in Capri Nights, Cat, is a chef. As I said before, I love writing about chefs, etc. I love using food metaphors and analogies in my “cooking” stories. The food I have my characters eat in the story is some of the same food I ate on my last trip to Italy a few years ago. My husband and I visited Capri on that trip, and we went to the Blue Grotto, same as Cat and Alex in my story.

DESIRE’S DILEMMA by Jean Hart Stewart
Genre: Historical Romance

When she discovers that neglect was due to dreadful war injuries, the attraction deepens. A former spy for Wellington, Marcus knows his injuries from almost fatal torture will keep him forever from marriage to the girl he has long loved.
Even as Marcus fights to keep revealing his love, Valanna admits hers. Valanna is determined to break his resolve, but Marcus’ honor stands between them. How can these two ever reconcile their differences, and find happiness?
What possible twist of fate can help these despairing lovers?

Writing claims my heart, and one of the best decisions I ever made was when I decided to write full time. I’m pretty ordinary really. But I had the chance to travel a lot when my husband did, and fell in love with England. Since I grew up on tales of King Arthur, when my kids were older and I retired from real estate, I turned to a much-desired career of author. I’m now on my 34th book, and loving every minute I can spend at the computer. But let’s not get on the subject of computers! I just switched from a PC to a Mac and the Mac is much smarter than me!
All my heroes are strikingly handsome, of course, with a flaw or two the heroine gets to correct. Writing has always been my joy and I’m so lucky that readers actually buy my stories!

Known for crafting characters that stay with you long after the last page has turned, Rose Anderson is a multi-published award-winning author and dilettante who loves great conversation and delights in interesting things to weave into stories. Rose also writes across genres under the pen name Madeline Archer. No matter which pen name she uses, Rose chooses descriptive words as carefully as an artist might choose a color.

As a self-described “persnickety leisure reader”, Rose especially enjoys novels that feel like they were written just for her. “It's hard to explain, but if you have ever read a book that felt like you alone knew what the author was getting at, then you’ll know what I mean. I tend to sneak symbolism and metaphor into my writing. You might say it's a game I play with myself when I write. I just love when readers email to say they've found something.” These hidden insights are her gift to her readers. Rose hopes readers will feel her stories were written just for them, for that’s the truth.
She lives with her family and small menagerie amid oak groves and prairie in the rolling glacial hills of the upper Midwest.
