She must learn who she can trust and find the power within herself to stop the prophecy from coming true.
About the Author:
I am an Irish-Canadian Young Adult author who was born in Winnipeg, Canada (yes, it really does exist). I love my city and love even more that it's become Hollywood's running joke (Don't believe me? Just check out Youtube).
I have always been a writer, from poems in my Grade 6 diary (Ode to Hobbits), to short stories in the back of my math's book. I have always loved to create stories and find myself constantly creating new characters.
I am a dedicated Fangirl of many proportions and I have a knack for getting expressions all wrong and saying incredibly stupid, but often hilarious things (My graduation gift from my friends was a book of my own quotes).
I am a proud alumna of St. Mary’s Academy, an all-girls Catholic prep school and I studied Theatre and Film at the University of Winnipeg. Currently, I am still hanging out in Winnipeg.

General overview:
Finn Adams is a Junior at Greyfell Academy in Port Moyle, CA. She’s just
an average girl and an okay student who has a tendency to trip over her own
lanky limbs. She’s perfectly fine being unnoticed though. When challenged, she
has an attitude that is borderline frightening which the new kid in school,
Eamon, finds out a little too quickly. When her affinity for Witchcraft is
revealed Finn takes a shining to learning her powers, but she doesn’t like all
the strings that come attached.
Interests: Finn’s interests are mostly related to movies and
books, and trying to stay afloat in High school. She has a keen mind for
history and foreign languages which ends up suiting her well in Awakening.
Important related characters: Her Mom; Catherine Adams. Her
Best friend; Tyler Adler. New Kid; Eamon Abbot (O’Neill). Her Biological
Father; Cormac McLoughlin. The Coven; Neely O’Brien, Declan Cavanaugh, Caine
O’Connor, Eamon O’Neill.
Mood towards witchcraft: So far she’s not the biggest fan. It is
because of her inherent power that all the trouble has started in her life. If
she had to choose between having her power and having her normal life back? She
would probably choose her normal life.
Mood towards Eamon: Mixed. She had this general frustration
with him that keeps her on guard and she cannot bring herself to fully trust
him. He has his own moments where she thinks maybe they’re making progress in
their friendship, but just as quickly he turns cold.
Changes: Throughout the book Finn not only discovers a new
life but a new name as well. Finn Adams finds out she’s really Fionnuala
McLoughlin and not so average after all. Her relationship with Eamon has its’
ups and downs from indifference, to friends, to enemies and back again. She
goes from the lanky girl who trips over her own limbs to a well-trained fighter
who knows how to use her body to her advantage.
Name: Eamon O’Neill (Abbot)
Age: 17
Height: 6’ 0’’
Hair: Raven
Eyes: Green
From: Broadhaven, Maine
Character status: Supporting Character
Dream Casting (Above ):
Brant Daugherty
General overview:
Eamon O’Neill is the third youngest Coven member. He is sent to observe
and protect Finn before everything goes awry and he ends up having to get her
out of Port Moyle. He is stubborn and does not accept blame so easily. His
behavior is entirely dependent on his mood, he is sarcastic, blunt and
sometimes just plain rude. He takes his mission very seriously but isn’t
entirely pleased with his assignment.
Interests: Eamon is a
Coven soldier so he typically does what he’s told, when he’s told to do it. His
vices however mostly include reading, the occasional video game and longs walks
by the water, really. He likes to dance,
just not usually in public.
Important related characters: His Father; Patrick O’Neill.
His Mother; Miriam O’Neill (deceased) His Best Friend; Neely O’Brien.
Mood towards his mission: Confusion. He doesn’t really
understand why he was chosen. Out of all the coven members, he thinks he is the
least qualified because he’s not the greatest with people. His only asset is
the fact that he is always prepared for the worst case scenario.
Mood towards Finn: Frustration. That probably sums up his
feelings as a whole. Not only is she obnoxiously stubborn and reckless, she’s also
powerful. He is torn between whether or not to embrace her, or to fear her like
his father has warned him he should.
Changes: Eamon’s changes are never definite. His mood can
switch at the drop of a hat and ruin practically any moment. Even when he tries
his hardest to be genuine he tends to muck it up just as quickly. His character
develops as he allows himself to vary from what he’s been told and allows
himself to form his own judgments.

1) I sat up with a start, my heart racing as my eyes took in my surroundings. After a moment
of panic, a calm settled over me as I realized I was in my
room. It had only been a dream, a
horrific, confusing, and altogether terrifying dream. My
heart was still racing, pounding fiercely
against my chest, as I felt a cold sweat beading on the back
of my neck. It took a few seconds
before I realized I was holding my breath. Letting out a
sigh of relief, I turned my eyes to the
clock by my bed. A groan escaped my lips as I saw the time;
it was three A.M. Running my hand
down my face, I took a second to compose myself, taking in
slow careful breaths, trying to calm
my heart. Sliding my hand back up across my face, I ran it
through the long strands of blond hair,
pulling them off my neck and over my shoulder. As I turned
to lie back down, a shadow moved
past my window and I froze, my breath caught in my chest
once more. Standing up quickly, I
moved to the window but found nothing but the darkened
street below, illuminated only by the
singular lamppost at the intersection. Of course, there was
nothing there; I was on the second
story. That sort of thinking was probably one of the first
signs of insanity. Finally letting my
breath out, I stared at the streets for a moment just to be
certain, before I shook my head clear
and turned back to bed. Clearly, I needed sleep. Between
this and my dream, the chances of
getting a decent night's rest were slim at this point. Lying
back down, I gazed at the ceiling for a
moment before I squeezed my eyes shut tightly. School
started back tomorrow, the first day of
junior year, which just meant one more year of being just a
little bit lower on the food chain. I
turned my head to glance at the time; I blinked in confusion
as the clock still read three A.M.
Reaching my hand over, I hit it only to see it click into
one after three. Yup, it was definitely
broken. With a sigh, I closed my eyes, trying to let the
dream escape my mind as I drifted back to
sleep.
2) Balancing the books in my arm, I reached for the lock trying the
combination. I'd had the same lock for five years; I had it down to basic
muscle memory. A frown settled on my lips, as the first three tries were
unsuccessful. "Ah come on seriously?" I muttered trying it again.
"Don't quit on me now." Having to get another lock would just throw
off the whole system. There was no way I could memorize another combination
quick enough. I thought about the embarrassment of having to write it down, and
having to pull out the combo for the first month and a half of school just to
get my books, no thank you.
"Uh, can I ask what you're doing breaking into my locker?" The voice made me jump. I whipped around quickly. My eyes lifted to find a boy, with a very serious and rather intimidating look on his face standing there, his emerald green eyes staring at me clearly waiting for an explanation. My words were caught in my throat as I stared in return, my own eyes wide I suspected I looked much like a deer caught in headlights which probably made me look guiltier than I actually was. He didn't look familiar to me; I couldn't help but focus on that. In Port Moyle, almost everyone was familiar. His nearly raven hair contrasted significantly against the serious lack of tan he was sporting, which led me to believe he was definitely not from California.
"Hello?" he added a hint of impatience in the tone and I realized now that I'd been staring at him without even uttering a simple response.
"Sorry, I um- sorry," I said quickly, leaning against the lockers to support my weight, fighting the blush that was forming on my cheeks.
"Do you mind?" he asked and nodded to the locker and I stumbled backward allowing him access to it.
"Sorry," I muttered again and watched as he opened it with ease. Suddenly my eyes turned to the one next to it. Yes, that was my locker and fighting the blush seemed to no longer be an option, as I felt the familiar burn of embarrassment flush my face. My eyes turned back to him and watched as he changed the books in his bag and I couldn't help but wonder who he was.
"Do you stare at everyone like that or am I just lucky?" he asked turning his eyes to me. "Eamon Abbot," he said offering his hand in greeting.
"Finn," I said taking his hand.
"I know," he said lifting my hand to show me the bracelet that held my name engraved across the surface.
"Right," I said with a nervous laugh and he dropped my hand quickly. As I turned, I opened my own locker and quickly began switching my books. "So where are you from?" I asked turning back and I blinked, surprised to find he was already gone. Turning around again, I found myself alone in the now empty hallway and the question from my lips lingering in the air.
