Author Bio
When I was younger, I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Part of my reason for dropping out of college was because I didn’t know what to major in. I was envious of my sister who knew from an early age, she was going to major in math. Good for her, but math was the last subject on my mind. I joined the Navy and found a track I liked. I became a photographer. I covered local news items, accidents, and even shot portraits. It was fun, but not a career path. When I got out of the Navy, I wanted to finish college but I was lost again. What to major in? I chose accounting because all businesses needed it and I went on to get my Bachelor’s and an MBA. After working in the field for a year, I went back in the Navy and asked for any assignment other than accounting.  It worked. After 22 years in the Navy, I retired. My husband and I moved into our motorhome and hit the road. Unfortunately, he passed away and I went back to work at a government job. Then I found writing. I hadn’t written a thing since I was 14 but I was smitten by the bug and have been writing ever since. “Gossamer” is the sixth book I’ve had published and is the third book in a four book series, “The Chronicles of Eledon.” Hope you enjoy it. I had fun writing it.

Book Excerpt

Alex assessed the grim faces on the Council members as they marched to the center of the chamber.  They stopped, placed their right hands over their chests in a salute, and knelt before Lord Ashur, the senior member of the Council of Elders and the last of the Fire Elves.  He sat in an elevated chair, towering over them in his bright red velvet robe.
“Rise, Prince Darin and Keeper.”  Lord Ashur’s voice boomed.  “Just a few minutes ago, I received an ultimatum from a young Elf who refused to identify himself except as a Red Elf.  He informed me that this was the Spring of Discord and they were holding Lady Opaline, our Gossamer Elf and Lady Lestin of the Water Elves as hostages.  In exchange, he demanded the release all of the Red Elves imprisoned at the Mounds.  We have forty-eight hours to comply.”
“Forty-eight hours?”  Alex raised her eyebrows.  “That’s only two days away, and we’re wasting time.  When are you going to release them?”
“I’ve advised King Sidin not to submit to their demands.”
“You can’t let them die!”  Alex stepped closer, but the Prince held her back.
“We cannot bow to their demands.  It will only show weakness and they will take advantage of us.  We must not deal with these hooligans.”  Lord Ashur grimaced.
“But this is my grandmother and oh, by the way, Lady Opaline is a member of your Council!”
“Yes, I know.  We know the risks...and so do they.”  Lord Ashur shook his head slowly.  “We can delay them for another two days until we figure something out.  Captain Rilles has begun an investigation to locate them.”
Alex stiffened, gritting her teeth.  “I’ll find them.”
“You will not!”  Lord Ashur pounded his fist against the arm of his chair.  “I told you Captain Rilles is handling it.  He’s interviewing Lady Opaline’s staff at her home here in Meridian as we speak.”  He glared at her.  “Enough, Keeper!”

Alex took a few steps back, blushing deeply.  She’d pushed him too hard.   After a short pause, she knelt on her right knee.  “I apologize, Lord Ashur.  I’m only concerned for the safety of my grandmother and Lady Opaline.  And I don’t have the keys anymore.  Lord Odin has them.”
