This is not my usual type of story I read but I really liked it. The story flowed and it kept you interested in what was happening and what was going to happen next. This is not the first book in the series but it can be read alone.
In this story you have Ray who is the head of CTF (Cinder Task Force) and is a fire mage. I guess you could call him hot stuff. Hot, sexy and stubborn is more like it. He is attracted to Clarissa but will not give in to his feeling. He also know she is his mate. Clarissa is a water mage and has loved Ray since the first day she started working for him. They are both opposites and yet she feels she can still be with him if he would only give them a chance. I love the fact that when Clarissa was upset with Ray she would call up water and hit him in the head with a ball of water.
While chasing Vincent a man who was Ray's best friend and now his enemy Ray, Clarissa and Vincent ended up on a boat. Once Vincent was subdued they had a worse problem the boat has drifted out and they had no way back home since Clarissa was weak from using her powers on Vincent. Would this be the end? Or would they find a way back home? Would Ray ever give in to his feeling for Clarissa? Or will she realize there was nothing left for her there and leave?
