Discovery Spotlight~Interview~Review

Fans of Twilight will love Discovery, a gothic, young adult urban fantasy journey of transformation, magic, and forbidden love. First in the Altera Realm trilogy, Discovery follows Syney and Hunter in a war between races as they fight for equality.
Syney’s life is ordinary until a carnival psychic informs her that she will be embarking on an adventure surrounding her real parents. All she’s got left of them is an amulet, the only thing found on her as a baby. The amulet breaks a spell that sent her over 100 years into the future in the Human Realm.
The Altera Realm has been at war for well over a century and is connected to the Human Realm by a portal and no human knows it exists. It is home to the five old and great races—Magic Users, Lycins, Vampires, Daemons, and Shifters. Each race is an entity of their own with its own life purpose, rulers and guarded secrets.
An old prophecy tells that peace can only come through the gracious Vilori Queen. What will happen when human-raised Syney Andrews is thrust into that role? No one is prepared for the consequences.
Things are only going to get harder for Syney, who is feeling a strong attraction to Hunter, from a banished family—and another race. Who can Syney trust, if anyone? Will she go against the law forbidding interracial marriage? Or will she fight to the death for her love, Hunter? Readers will be on the edge of their seats as they find out.

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
In the 3rd grade when I wrote a ridiculous short story, which my 8th grade lunch monitor read and said it was really good. He told me that if I wanted to be a writer than that is what I should do. I don't remember his name but he changed my life.
Do you have a process?
I write the best at night. Usually after my husband goes to sleep I stay up in bed, pop in my ear buds (music is a must), and write for a couple of hours. I tend to outline a few things but when I write my characters tend to have minds of their own.
Who or What is your inspiration?
I tend to daydream out most of my plots (its what teachers really do between classes :) ) but a certain song will always bring ideas to my mind. I can't write without a little Adele or Florence and a few of their songs have inspired whole chapters.
What will you be working on next?
Book two in the Altera Realm series is written and I am currently working on book three which wraps up the current story lines. I would like to try to extend the series into a further three books focusing on the children of the characters in books 1-3. I just can't seem to get out of Altera, which is okay.
What's your favorite genre to write?
I love writing paranormal fiction and fantasy. Vampires, magic, werewolves are all so interesting to me.
Favorite paranormal read?
I loved Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. It mixed vampires and zombies so well, I was jealous I didn't think of it first.
Favorite Author?
I am an equal opportunity author lover but if I had to choose it would be RL Stine who was the first author I really got addicted to as a kid.
Person you would like to meet most in this world?
George RR Martin. I think we would have some great ideas to compare.
If you could be any character from one of your books who would it be?

If I could cross the gender lines I would say Gabe because he is so sneaky. But I do have a huge soft spot in my heart for Syney.

Favorite Lines “But you will, my dear. Yours is a great destiny. I’ve seen your future, and it’s so beautiful.”

“All she knew for certain was she felt completely safe with Hunter—the wolf and the man.”
“The only thing he knew for certain anymore was that this girl was going to be the death of him, and there was no way he could live without her. Not a very good outlook on their future.”

“He had missed this. The annoying girl who got under his skin. He missed her.”

“That’s when he realized he would never get over Syney. He needed her almost as much as he needed air to breathe. He was screwed.”

Holy smokes talk about a paranormal tear jerker! Syney gets swept up in a different world, different family, and different life when Hunter shows up at her home to take her to the Village! After almost getting killed and watching a hunter turn into a wolf, then shooting purple lighting out of her hand she's done! Then when she gets a call saying the bad guys have her family she runs back to them.
Hunter can't believe his charge he's he protector and there is something about her that he can't explain.
His story is filled with magic, betrayal, heartbreak, love, laughter, anger, vampires, Lycan, and sadness! Watch a young girl grow into a queen and all that entails!
All Syney wants is to be happy but is that in the cards for her,
I am dying for book 2! I can't wait to see what happens with this amazing story by this fabulous author!

I was given book by author in exchange for an honest review
