Life is hell for Persephone. Zeus will stop at nothing to gain access to the living realm and the Underworld, and as the only living god with a right to both, Persephone’s in trouble. Meanwhile, Hades contemplates desperate measures to rescue his queen. Persephone never thought of herself as dangerous, but there’s a reason gods never marry for love. A being with the power to destroy all of creation shouldn’t place more value in one individual than the rest of the planet. But Hades...Hades would break the world for her.

Persephone
Favorite Lines “Is this a god thing?” I asked, growing annoyed. “Talking about people like they aren’t standing right there?”

“Life isn’t fair! Why should death be any different?”
“Did you ever stop and wonder if maybe that attitude is why the gods are dead?” I asked. “People don’t believe in gods because they can’t wrap their minds around the idea of someone allowing all the terrible things in the world to happen.”
“Reality has teeth and claws. It’s rarely pretty and never fair. Haven’t you figured that out yet?”

“I’m in love with you. I’ve been in love with you since the moment I laid eyes on you in the clearing…” He trailed off, looking to the side as if he could see me there. My mind flashed back to the picture in his dream and my eyes widened. “You’re beautiful, and kind, and everything I could ever want, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re eons younger than me. However much I’d like it to. Pursuing this in any way would be taking advantage of you, and I’m not going to do that.”

What a great start to this series! Yummy Hades is OMG yummy! I can't imagine the shock that Persephone is going through! To know your whole life has been a lie! That your going to become immortal. That your mom is is a Goddess! That your father is Zeus! I devoured this book!

Daughter of the Earth and Sky
Favorite Lines “After everything he did to you, you still couldn’t bring yourself to kill Thanatos.”
“So you had to kill one of your best friends? If I wasn’t so weak, I would have done it.”
“That’s not weak. That’s strong. Stronger than you know. It’s easy to give into vengeance.”

“How many times had I rolled my eyes when I’d heard others say those words? But we did belong together. Ever since that first kiss in the clearing. We’d given each other a part of ourselves, and that could never be undone.”

These 2 belong together! Hades and Persephone are both so hard headed! Both so head strong! It's literally them against the world! It's like they are against themselves too!

Iron Queen
Favorite Lines “Apparently on top of all my other charming flaws I’m over-possessive. Who knew?”

“You’re overstepping. We don’t need you to protect us from Zeus. We don’t need you at all. If Zeus thinks he can take down the human race, he’s going to have another thing coming.”

“It meant something to her because I gave it to her. I meant something to her.”

“It didn’t take strength to kill someone. It took fear. Fear and the knowledge he would come back, that nothing and no one in my life would be safe so long as he walked the earth.”

Whoa! This series rocked! It had everything needed to make a story amazing!
Great story lines, plots, drama, made me laugh, made me cry, and the Gods and Goddess that I love to read about!
Hades is my new favorite God! He is so much more than King of the Underworld! He's a emotional, feeling, funny, amazingly sexy god!
Persephone this girl has been through hell since she found out she is actually a Goddess, her parents are Zeus and Demeter! She wasn't born she was made. She can make plants bloom and now she's the Queen of the Underworld! She has been kidnapped, beat, she's killed, she's been glamored, she's been taken advantage of in ways no person should have to go through! She's handled it lies a Queen though! She really has. In the end she has lost so much but also gained so much more! I devoured this series in 24 hrs and I am praying there will be more!
If you want a series that rocks your world then The Daughter of Zeus is the series for you!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (GHB)

FIVE UNDERWORLD FAIRIES

Gods and Goddess

1) Persephone, obviously I've got a special place in my heart for the Goddess of Spring. Her myth was the first one I learned as a child and her story stuck with me until I could make it my own.

 2) Hades. The sarcastic, funny Hades from Disney's Hercules resonated with me and I've always kind of wondered if maybe there was more to Hades.

3) Aphrodite. I always felt like Aphrodite gets kind of a bad wrap today because she was pretty and she got around. But what god didn't? It seems like in every modern depiction of mythology Aphrodite is a ditzy slut that's also pretty mean while Zeus and Poseidon are held up as "Serious" and somehow get written as good guys? They were serial rapists. Aphrodite's only crime was being pretty. By all accounts she was actually pretty clever, and yeah, she got around, just like every male god in the pantheon.

 4) Artemis. Artemis was a kick-butt goddess. She was strong, she knew what she wanted, and she wasn't afraid to do whatever it took to get it.

5) Demeter. The way I wrote Demeter did her a disservice. She was a fantastic mother who was literally willing to move heaven and earth to get to her daughter. She stood up to Zeus and cut him where it hurts, which unfortunately were people...who all starved and died.

6) Hestia. Hestia didn't get involved with much of the drama of Olympus, so she's easy to forget, but she was one of the few Greek gods that did more good than harm.

7) Ares. Ares is one of the only male gods that not only did not make a hat of raping women, but he actively hunted rapists down and slaughtered them. He doesn't get featured in many myths, and in most of the myths he's in he's gettng the crap beat out of him by Athena, but he always came off as not that bright, but very enthusiastic. He also really seemed to care for Aphrodite regardless of what it cost him.

8) Athena. I love that the goddess of wisdom in an ancient culture was a woman. I wish she'd been a little less spiteful, but I really appreciate that Greek mythology created intelligent, strong, multifaceted women who had all kinds of strengths and flaws, and held them up as goddesses.

9) Triton. My version of him anyway, he doesn't make many appearances in mythology.

10) Eris. Eris is the goddess of discord and is essentially Malificent from Sleeping Beauty. She got mad she wasn't invited to a party, so she caused the Trojan War in a very clever, manipulative way. Sorry, it's awful, but it's also kind of cool that one pissed off individual had the ability to cause a war that lasted ten years, destroyed an entire civilization, scattered two major heroes to the wind, and got the gods themselves to fight a battle one another. Bet she never missed another party.
