Favorite Quotes:
Sheriff Cutler Powell stared at the slender, auburn-headed
madwoman standing in the foyer of the best—and only—café on his pack’s land.
She was small, maybe five-four, and had satiny skin turned a pale gold from the
sun. The spray of freckles across her pert little nose made his cock twitch…she
was just that pretty. The scent coming off her made him harden instantly. It
was like breathing in pure lust and there was nothing pure about his reaction
to it. The wolf inside him raised its head and in a low, satisfied rumble,
spoke one word.
Mine.
Cutler rubbed his temples. “Okay. Here’s what we’re going to
do.” Cutler Powell was used to giving orders and having his pack obey them, not
the other way around. Gwen Campbell 22
This wasn’t a democracy. Their willful and not-so-subtle
hints that he take in these strays, not giving him a chance to do it on his own
when he’d had every intention of doing that about two seconds after he’d
smelled Fina, smacked of dissention. He glared at every eye in the place that
dared meet his and kept glaring until they looked away. “You and Ryan will stay
at my place. I’ve got more than enough room.”
“We can’t—”
“I don’t give a rat’s ass about what you think you can do,
woman,” he snarled. “Your pack’s gone and I wish to god I could change that for
you but I can’t. You’re a female and he’s a child. You need a pack to take you
in. I’m offering mine.” He picked up his hat, the check and Ryan’s backpack.
“Stay for a week or stay forever, your choice.” Cutler stood, looked at the
check and slapped a few bills on the table. “If we’re not a good fit, move on.
I can tell you where to find two other packs less than a day’s drive from here.
Until then, you’re one of us,” he added loudly enough for everyone in the café
to hear. He touched Fina’s elbow and held it with remarkable gentleness,
considering, until she stood up.
I was given the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a great story. This story starts off with the loss
of Fina and Ryan’s family. The beginning
contains violence and rape. Fina is 20
and with the death of her pack she now is the only one who is in charge of all
the pack’s and personal assets and now a 5 year old child that isn’t even hers.
Fina takes care and protect the boy as if he was her own. Ryan’s parents were
killed along with Fina’s by a group of rogue werewolves. Then in the process of
Fina coming home she was violently raped by them and the rogue’s leader
believed she was his now. Fina and Ryan ran away and found themselves now
accepted by another pack. What Fina didn’t know was that Cutler was not only
the Alpha, the sheriff but also her mate. Cutler immediately realizes that Fina
is his mate and will not let her go even though he told her she was safe with
them as long as she stayed. He offered her and Ryan a place to stay. When they
arrive at the Cutler’s home she immediately finds another man there, Cutler’s
brother Nath. What neither Cutler nor Nath expected was that Fina was both
their mates and as their mate they would do anything in the world to protect
her.
Fina has not only become the mate to one alpha but also to
the beta of the pack and has to now fight her way through every female that
Cutler has screwed by also everyone that Nath has also. What a mess she has on her hands. Will she
let herself love these two as they love her? Or will she let the past destroy
what they are building as a pack and family?
I love this story, there is a lot of love, sadness, violence
and friendship but there is also laughter. I would not mind having two men cherish
me the way they cherish Fina. When you first read all the women looking at Fina
like they could kill her the first thoughts I has were oh man are then two men
in trouble. It was funny on how Cutler
looked at all the women and realized just how many he has sex with. As Fina said she needs brass knuckles. Excellent
story, fast paced and well written, cannot wait for another one…
